Career:
Russell is a creator of three dimensional wall and free-standing pieces, working with wood and metals  producing both abstract and real life, looking for new dimensions with different materials. He has traveled to Europe several times to view firsthand the artworks that inspire him. Self-taught in the arts since grammar school, Russell went on to work for a metal firm in Chicago as a model maker. It was there he received his first major commission, a 4 ft by 8 ft bronze piece for the company lobby of Ready Metal Manufacturing. First place winner of several art fairs in and around Chicago, including Beverly Arts Center, Old Town, New Town and Morton Grove, he was also a part owner in a small Chicago gallery. Charter member of the Chicago Artists Coalition in the 1970s. Now resides in Galena pursuing his art and crafts full time.
